What happens if there's a nest in the tree?
By Andy's PGM ·

Trees are homes. Birds nest in them, squirrels raise their young in them, and all kinds of animals use them for shelter. When we work on a tree, we keep that in mind.
We look before we cut
Before the saws start, we look the tree over for nests and signs of animals living in it. It’s easier to plan around a nest at the start than to find it halfway through a job.
We work around what’s there
When we find a nest or an animal living in a tree, we don’t just cut through it. Depending on the job, that might mean:
- Leaving the branch or section with the nest alone
- Changing the order we take a tree down in
- Coming back to finish once the nest is empty
Andy keeps up with the local rules on protected species, so you’re not left guessing about what can and can’t be done.
Sometimes it means waiting
If a job can wait until a nest is empty, sometimes the right call is to wait. When a tree is dangerous and can’t wait, we work as carefully as we can around whatever’s living there. Either way, we’ll talk it through with you before we start.
