Palm Tree Trimming in Sarasota, FL

We trim palms from the bucket truck, removing dead and hanging fronds and seed pods while leaving a full, healthy crown.

Bucket truck trimming palms at a large two-story home while a crew member rakes up fronds beside a loaded dump truck.

How we trim palms

Green fronds are how a palm feeds itself. A proper trim removes the dead, dying and hanging fronds, along with seed pods and flower stalks, and leaves a full green crown.

Tall palms

For tall palms we work from the bucket truck, which gives a stable platform and a clean cut on each frond.

Cleanup

Palm fronds are large and sharp. We rake them up, load them in the truck and clear the lawn and driveway before we leave.

Planting palms

Our landscape division also plants palms, including large ones. See palm and tree installation.

Common questions

How often should palms be trimmed?

It depends on the type of palm and how quickly it drops fronds. We'll look at yours and recommend a schedule.

Should palms be cut way back before a storm?

Cutting a palm down to a few fronds, often called a hurricane cut, removes the green fronds the palm needs to feed itself. We recommend leaving a full crown and removing only the dead and hanging fronds. There's more in our article on trimming before hurricane season.

Do you trim palms at condos and commercial properties?

Yes. We trim for condo associations and common grounds as well as homeowners.
